Children's Centre Foundation supports the following programs and initiatives:
The Chill Room project provides funding for the development of semi-supervised spaces within high schools and senior elementary schools across Thunder Bay. These “chill rooms” are safe places within the school for youth to go to when they feel stressed, overwhelmed, gather themselves or just take a quiet break.
Children's Centre Foundation has sponsored a local youth hockey team, through the provision of green tournament jerseys. In return, the Volunteer Pool Pee Wee Bearcats are bringing awareness to mental health issues on and off the ice.
The Task Force was established in 2007, based on the growing need to address youth mental health issues and tragic events, including suicide. A collective of 31 partner organizations, the Task Force is involved in community education initiatives, awareness campaigns and an acute fan-out response in the case of a tragic event or youth suicide.
